The Kinks are back! And you can get your hands on a sought-after, not-for-sale promo version of the brand new Kinks CD box set. Picture Book is the ultimate Kinks collection - a chronologically-ordered set of 6 CDs. Compiled with the help of Ray Davies, this is a fantastic set of rarities, live versions and classic originals celebrating one of Britain’s most successful and influential bands ever. Without the Kinks - there’d have been no 90s Britpop.
Featuring the song writing genius of Ray Davies and the guitar virtuosity of brother Dave, hits like You Really Got Me, Lola, Waterloo Sunset, All Day And All Of The Night and Sunny Afternoon not only defined British cool in the sixties and seventies, but also cemented the band’s place in rock’n'roll mythology.
Picture Book includes rare demos, mono versions, alternate mixes, live renditions as well as archived BBC television and session material - alongside the classic originals of course.
So you want a very nice promo version of this box set - of the kind that you just can’t buy in the shops? It’d make a brilliant Christmas present for that discerning music fan that’s impossible to buy for…
We’ve got 3 to give away so all you have to do is add a comment below and we’ll pick 3 random names out of the virtual hat before Christmas. Go for it… easy as.
Sorry people - but the comp is now closed. Thanks for all your comments!
Need some more ideas for Christmas? How about The Clash book, CD & DVD, tickets to see the Ian Dury play or a place in the queue to see Blur’s comeback gig in Hyde Park next year?

I’ve been a fan since I was in the single digits, it’s past time this boxed set came out, can’t want to hear some of the alternate and rare takes. GSTK!
December 9th, 2008 at 6:42 am
The kinks are one of the best bands to come out of England in the 1960’s. Ray is one of the best songwriters in history and Dave created a sound that many have copied since. I have loved the kinks since 7th grade and am still loving them 28 years later! The kinks give the people what they want!!!
December 9th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Totally awesome dudes!
December 9th, 2008 at 8:02 am
Good stuff….
December 9th, 2008 at 8:08 am
At last! This box set is a way-overdue tribute to one of the best bands ever. It looks like it’s got just enough rarities, too, to tempt even longtime fans like me, who already own all the albums. I know what I want for Christmas!
December 9th, 2008 at 8:45 am
Waterloo Sunset is by far the best tune to come out of this world in the history of rock.
Pleeeeeze dear Santa! I’ve been very nice this year!
December 9th, 2008 at 9:01 am
Genuine fan here! One of the younger generation of fans - 16 years old, but have everything by them. I know this box set will not disappoint.
As it is based on random names, I shouldn’t think this comment makes much difference, but oh well.
December 9th, 2008 at 9:03 am
and now i own a grocery!
December 9th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Saw Ray last night at the 9:30 club in DC. My first kinks show was at the Beacon in NYC in 1973. Dozens and dozens of shows in between. send me the box set, why doncha?
December 9th, 2008 at 9:32 am
A terrific box set - not to be missed.
December 9th, 2008 at 9:46 am

December 9th, 2008 at 10:08 am
It’s about time! I am so looking forward to hearing the “bonus unreleased tracks and alternate pressings”. I will be spending hours on line this Friday at the Hammerstein Ballroom in near-freezing temps and snow/sleet, but it will be worth it to see Ray and all of the friends I’ve made from the Kinks/Ray/Dave message boards that I ain’t never seen.
Forever In Kinkdom

December 9th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Will be saying Ray Davies 4 more times this week…..I will need this box set, so I do not plummet into a deep dark depression once his tour is over……ah….what a way to celebrate Christmas and then ring in the New Year 2009….better yet…a Kinks Reunion Tour in ‘09 would really rock!
God Save The Kinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
December 9th, 2008 at 10:34 am

My mom is a Kinks fanatic, and has slowly turned me on to their music…
Not too shabby for some old-school rock &roll
I would love to win this so I could turn my friends on to some good rockin stuff.
December 9th, 2008 at 10:48 am
The Kinks are hands down the greatest Rock ‘n Roll band of all time. It’s really time they got their due. How many other bands from that era have all their original members still alive? God look over them and sustain the genius that is The Kinks!
December 9th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Being a “Deadhead” for 30 years, I found great pleasure in rediscovering the Kinks not too long ago…
Wish I never missed all of those Rare performances by the masters of Kink, Ray and Dave Davies….will they ever perform again for all us of fools who were under the spell of others for so many years? Only time will tell…..Thanhk you for the Days Ray, that you are here playing in the NorthEast….we appreciate it tremendously!
I would love to win this box set, since I have none of thses raritities they have listed..
God Save Donald Duck and GOD SAVE THE KINKS in 2009!!!!!

Father Christmas…give me the box set!
December 9th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
I am hoping this set and hopefully the reunion tour will bring the KinKs the recognition they deserve as the greatest band in the world. Who else has so many classic songs that you can’t count them all. “It’s only music” Ya right
December 9th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Just saw Ray last night at the 9:30 Club. It was a great concert. I hope the Kinks will be able to reunite.
December 9th, 2008 at 1:43 pm

December 9th, 2008 at 2:03 pm
I’m on a Low Budget, what did you say? Low Budget, I thought you said that.
December 9th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Father christmas, give us the box set,
don’t mess around with those silly toys…
December 9th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Most amazing band EVER. Ray, Dave, please keep the reunion issue moving forward. And don’t forget about Jim and Ian — they were members for 18 years!!!
December 9th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Ray is the best songwriter ever, a true genius. He continues to write great songs (If anyone who saw Come Dancing The musical will testify) and has never just relied on his old hits to make a living like many of his contemporaries! I get a bit tired of hearing about how The Kinks were just a sixties band. There is no doubt they made some of their best music then but this box set will reveal that they continued to make great records throughout their career. Times changed and The Kinks moved with them. God save The Kinks ……………….We mean it man!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 9th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Dave! Please come back!
December 9th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
A kinky box set? Send it to me!
December 9th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
God save the Kinks! I need this box set in my stocking.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:00 pm

December 9th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Please?????
December 9th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Gotta love the Kinks!
December 9th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
I’ve been a fan from the day I heard You Really Got Me in the summer of 1964 when I was eleven. I finally got to meet the great man a few years ago. It’s as close to Godhead as I’m likely to get.
Rock on!
December 9th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
The Kinks are living proof the devil is alive and well. There can be no other explanation for them not receiving the adulation, respect, celebrity that other, unnamed, 60’s bands have achieved, with less talent! But on the other hand as Ray said, the Kinks always manage to mess things up, and I don’t think they or their fans would have it any other way. Finally great to see the box set, this band can and should have at least three or four more….Mr Bill
December 9th, 2008 at 3:28 pm

I’m on a Low Budget

December 9th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
The world wouldn’t have been the same without The Kinks
December 9th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Never mind giving away copies of the box set!
Make sure that it is well publicised and if it sells sufficiently we may have the real prize of seeing the original line-up perform on stage once more.
Now how many people would pay to see that?
December 9th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Traded my Beatles white album for the Kinks Muswell Hillbillies and never looked back since. Father Christmas, bring me the box set…..my birthday is the 23rd. Do you know how lousy it is to have a birthday at Christmastime????? Make mine special this year.
December 9th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
Long time Kinks fan, first saw them on June 25, 1970; caught Ray’s show this past July. Looking forward to the unreleased songs on the box set.
December 9th, 2008 at 5:29 pm

December 9th, 2008 at 5:32 pm

December 9th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Finally! Ray and Dave and Mick and all the boys get their due. What a job it must have been to cull the finest gems from the massive catalog-but it’s all great so you can’t go wrong.
December 9th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
I own every Kinks album released as well as bunch of bootlegs. Can’t wait to hear the box set!
December 9th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Art takes time, time is money
Money’s scarce and that ain’t funny
Millionaires are things of the past
We’re in a low budget film where nothing can last
Money’s rare there’s none to be found
So don’t think I’m tight if I don’t buy a round
December 9th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
They say that love and friendship are the two most important things in life…..and it’s true. But my life will not be completed without the music of The Kinks: it has conquered my heart since I was a kid and it’s an inseparable part of my life. I’m very happy and proud- as I know all the loyal fans for so many years will be- that I will finally have in my hands this special box set, a treasure that captures the quintessencel of this superb group. As we say in Mexico : Que vivan los Kinks!
December 9th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
The Kinks are my favorite band of all time. I am doing my senior project on them at IU, which I would one day like to have published. The information within the boxed set (be it the liner notes, unreleased or alternate tracks) would not only be beneficial, but a real pleasure as a Kinks fan.
December 9th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
scooby dooby doo!
December 9th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
My Mom has driven me crazy over the years with her “KINKS”….but recently, I have come to realize that ….I too….must be a Kinks fan….I won’t let on to Mom…but would love to get this box set and start palying obscure songs at night, while she sleeps….she would never think it was me….lol…I have never heard of these rare songs, and I am sure she hasn’t either.
What a great Christmas gift this would be! Thanks for the opportunity,
A. Ross
December 9th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
My posts keep disappearing…..I would love the box set, as I have just recently been reintroduced to the Kinks…..this is just one set that has everything needed to become a Kinks junkie for sure.
December 9th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
My Mom has driven me to drink with Death of a Clown and PlasticMan as well as the other collection of Loonie Tunes from the Kinks….I guess they have grown on me. I am entering because I would like my own collection of Kinks classics, so I can drive my children to drink with Dave and Ray too!

December 10th, 2008 at 1:00 am
Is there life without The Kinks?
December 10th, 2008 at 1:03 am
The Kinks aah! -They’re a ‘Kinda’ ‘Kontroversey’,some say this, other ‘misfits’ say ’some thing else’,but ‘face to face’,or ‘live’,even ‘to the bone’, you do not need to ‘think visual’ to realise that the kinks were like a ’soap opera’. So lets have ‘one for the road’ and celebrate the release of those ‘Muswell Hillbillies’ those ’school boys in disgrace’ box set, tell eveyone you know by ‘word of mouth’, even those on a ‘low budget’ ; don’t forget ‘Percy’ or ‘Arthur’, that the songs Ray Davies felt worthy of ‘preservation’ are together at last. The Kinks have kept me going all day and all of the night.
December 10th, 2008 at 1:12 am
Give the people what they want!
December 10th, 2008 at 1:30 am
I saw ray at Summerfest, have boughten all the sacds since then and the two solo albums as well as plowing into dave’s stuff. Then, the Pye rereleases and everything else. The Kinks have been such a great listening experience. I would love to see ray live on this tour but there are no close cities. Have fun to everyone!
December 10th, 2008 at 1:45 am

December 10th, 2008 at 2:42 am
The Kinks “Really got me” & “Rocked me to be bone” on a lovely “Sunny afternoon”
December 10th, 2008 at 3:27 am
What a great title for their first ever box set ‘Picture Book’. As every song they sing paints another wonderful picture. Kinks songs will stay in my mind forever. If I am so lucky to win this promo box set? then it will be treasured forever, and I will be a very proud owner.
December 10th, 2008 at 3:40 am
I have loved The KinKs since I was 11 when I caught my dad prancing around the front room to You Really Got Me, it was Dave’s Davies fantastic guitar rift that got me hooked and Ray Davies fab lyrics that reeled me in. Winning this box set would seriously make me the happiest woman on the planet ( that and the fact I get married on the 23rd December 2008) it would not only make my wedding perfect but my Christmas too.
December 10th, 2008 at 3:45 am
Glad to see the Kinks are finally gaining the recognition that their unique style of music deserves : can still see Ray with a bottle on his head singing “Alcohol”!
December 10th, 2008 at 3:59 am

I have been a life long fan and to this day certain songs still send shivers up my spine. I have seen them many times live and they are superb. I cannot wait until the Kinks get back together.
December 10th, 2008 at 5:10 am
I have been a life long fan and cannot wait until they get back together as a band. In the mean time I have purchased all of Dave’s CD’s and Ray’s. A truly superb live band and totally unique.
December 10th, 2008 at 5:26 am
I can’t wait to listen to the box set, especially those previously unreleased songs from the band’s (much maligned and underrated) Arista period.
God save The Kinks.

First saw The Kinks when they toured w/The Who back in ‘69- The best concert I’ve ever seen-at least from what I remember……(This was their 1st tour after being banned from the U.S. for 4 yrs. What a crock of malarky.) If anyone saw the wild concerts from the 70’s, they witnessed the best legal fun you could possibly have-my buddies still talk about them 30 yrs. later! God Save The Kinks-especially Ray and Dave.

I became a Kinks fan in 1967 during the time of Mr. Pleasant and always stayed that way untill now.
I have followed them during good times and bad times and still like their music verry much. It goes like
a red wire through my life. There was’nt a day without Kinks music ! And for the future: This time tomorrow,
where will we be without you Ray !!
December 10th, 2008 at 11:52 am
I became a Kinks fan in 1967 during the time of Mr. Pleasant and always stayed that way untill now. I have followed them during good times and bad times and still like their music verry much. It goes like a red wire through my life. There was’nt a day without Kinks music ! And for the future: This time tomorrow, where will we be without you Ray !!
December 10th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
This box set is eagerly awaited. Like a lot of people coming late into the Kinks, I have the obligatory compilation and little else. So this will be my Xmas treat. hope for a 09 reunion!
December 10th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
I’m really looking forward to the unreleased stuff.
“They’re putting us in identical little boxes”
Best band ever!
December 10th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
About time too! The Kinks truly deserve a box set release at last, they have more than enough great music to fill it (with no filler!)

My lad Sean (9) is absolutely bonkers about The Kinks. and would be chuffed to get for christmas
December 10th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Not only the 60’s tracks are great, but also the 70’s, and also the 80’s, and also the 90’s And also
the tracks they would have made in this century if they were still together as a band.
December 10th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
The omissions from this box set are of a higher standard than the best work included in the box sets of most other pop bands.
December 10th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
god will save the kinks
:)
December 10th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
This is for entry # 61, Joyce. I traded in Iron Butterfly for Lola vs. Powerman claiming that the former was defective at the store. Birthday so close to Christmas and a story similar to mine, I say “Good”Luck” to you in this contest. - MooShu
December 10th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
wow this box set looks great and hopefully it will bring the kinks back to us as a live band and if not hopefully virgin will get them to put out a few new kinks cd’s….oh father christmas please grant my wish in this troubled economy we need the kinks to lead us back up the path
December 10th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
All day and all of the night (for years) I’ve been waiting for the Kinks box set. At last it’s here… and it won’t be wrong with a promo box set…
December 10th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
The Kinks are timeless. They were always off step with everything going on around them when it happened. Looking back - everyone else was off step with them..God Save the Kinks.
December 10th, 2008 at 8:54 pm

Great, this would my Christmas.
December 11th, 2008 at 2:59 am
hope we’ll meet again some day - spend some time together!
December 11th, 2008 at 3:21 am
Sunny Afternoon was the first pop single I ever bought. It was the only one I thought my dad would allow in the house! I recently saw the Come Dancing musical - Ray’s spark is very much still alive.
December 11th, 2008 at 4:05 am
Whenever Ray sees me he still says “how’s your mum”, which as a fan can freak you out that he remembers all that from the early 90s! I would LOVE the box set, please please pretty please…?
December 11th, 2008 at 4:10 am
We’d “cross over the river” for a free copy of the new Kinks boxed set.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:21 am
Just want to say this: if it wasn’t for a contest like this, I wouldn’t be able to get any recent release from the Kinks. Here in Argentina, they simply don’t release Kinks records! And added to the fact that import material is largely unaccessible (due to our money devaluation, economy crisis -and shipping taxes as well-), there is even no possibilities to get any copy of large box sets like this. So, I have this strong intention (I see my intentions like energy seeds that I sow in the long fibers of energy in front of me): in the near future, I know I will be re-writing a similar letter to you guys at Virgin, this time to thank for my present. God bless you all.
December 11th, 2008 at 5:32 am
I can’t wait to hear this!!! Long live the Kinks!
December 11th, 2008 at 6:01 am
Pick me, pick me! I just saw Ray Davies Saturday night Dec. 6 & got his autograph. I am the most deserving…pick me, pick me!
December 11th, 2008 at 6:23 am
They are just a top notch group…. nuff said
December 11th, 2008 at 6:31 am
three cheers for the RDQ!!! seeing Ray tomorrow night and can’t wait for the box set, if I win, of course. i don’t have a steady occupation, they all tell me get a job you slob, but I’d rather be a hobo walking round with my new Kinks box set than a rich man scared of losin all he’s got.
December 11th, 2008 at 6:44 am
Can you just imagine the Rock and Roll world without the Kinks…….it would be a world without Personality…………………………….
December 11th, 2008 at 7:09 am
this is my name… :-)
love it!
December 11th, 2008 at 7:32 am
Finally, a Kinks box. Yet how can you possibly sum it up? I look forward to finding out.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:35 am
Would make an excellent XMAS present, KINKS, RAY, DAVE etc…, Thank you for the DAYS !!
December 11th, 2008 at 8:46 am
The Kinks rules ! Greatest band ever
December 11th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Looking forward to the box set, nice to see the Kinks finally get this sort of release together.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Ray Davies is a national treasure and his songwriting is sadly underrated.
This box set finally does justice to an underated seminal group who influenced so many later bands and songwriters.
December 11th, 2008 at 9:38 am
I have been a fan for years, have all of their albums, and then some. They did it for me back in 1969 and I haven’t looked back since. The ultimate band.
December 11th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Finally a Kinks box set!
December 11th, 2008 at 10:53 am
I saw The Kinks in 1980 in Providence, Rhode Island a few months after they released One For The Road. This was the tour to promote the live album which was recorded in Providence and Amherst (where I went to college). Years later, I was pleased to see the One For The Road video which is their 1979 Providence show. It’s special because although I wasn’t at that concert, the set list the next year was virtually identical, so watching the DVD is like reliving my first Kinks concert.
I saw The Kinks in each tour after that through 1984 — then recently Ray Davies in Atlanta and Orlando. The carer of the brothers Davies is truly epic.
December 11th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
GOOD CONTEST.
December 11th, 2008 at 12:13 pm
I hope “All Night Stand”is on the set. And maybe the long-rumoured, does it or doesn’t it exist Mick Avory-sung “Lilacs and Daffodills? If no, I still want it.
December 11th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Ahh, lovely stuff. No doubt I’ll be shelling out for this when I don’t win. PICture book always was one of ME favourite songs…
(… Did that work?)

December 11th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Oh come on. Let it be me.
December 11th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
On the 27th of April 2000 I shook hands with Ray Davies after a concert in Århus, Denmark.
It was like touching 37 years of my life.
December 11th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
The Kinks are the most underrated band of all-time. While The Beatles and Stones got all the attention, Ray Davies and The Kinks released some of the greatest albums in music history.
Got to see Ray in Chicago last April, but I would love it if Dave can get healthy enough for the group to reunite.
God Save The Kinks!
December 11th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
I am so tired of waiting for it !
December 11th, 2008 at 3:55 pm
Dedicated Follower of the Kinks. Love the idea of rarities and outakes! Keep ‘em coming!
December 11th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
KINKS FOREVER!!!
December 11th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Since 1974 I have seen the Kinks at least 25 times and Ray Davies 8 times and Dave 3 times.Thru the good times and bad times of life their music was the soundtrack. It has been said before and will be said again GOD SAVE THE KINKS. Thank you for those DAYS.
December 11th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Fingers crossed…
December 11th, 2008 at 9:18 pm

Seeing Ray tonight. Hopefully the sequined jacket will be back in action. Also. I would like this box set. Yes.
December 12th, 2008 at 11:39 am
People take pictures of each other, just to prove that they really existed… I’d like this snapshot of the world’s best band ever - spread over six Cds…
December 12th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
The crowd smashed the concert hall at the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen when the Kinks played there in the sixties. Whoa! Sort of different when I went to Royal Albert Hall last year to see Ray’s concert.
December 12th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
God save the Kinks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 13th, 2008 at 6:11 am
Here’s hoping for “Better Things” for a good start to the new year with a win in Virgin’s draw.
December 13th, 2008 at 8:08 am
The Kinks helped lead the charge of the British Invasion. The promo would be a “Ray” of light in a pretty dismal Christmas season.
December 13th, 2008 at 8:37 am
This would be my shangri-la!!!
December 13th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Fingers crossed.
December 13th, 2008 at 10:16 am
Shared a tent with ray davies at glastonbury - with about 600 other people.
December 13th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
I cannot wait for this to reach US shores. The biggest surprise is the large number of Arista outtakes that have never even been bootlegged. This is a Kinks fan’s dream. God Save the Kinks and I hope everybody gets what they deserve.
December 13th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Father Christmas, give me the boxset, we’ve got no time for your silly toys. Thank you for the chance to win.
December 13th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
I’ve got a hat like Princess Marina’s!
December 13th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
First saw Ray and The Kinks during their Soap Opera tour. Arthur is their best release.
The Kinks influenced the start of Heavy Metal, could also be considered one of the first indie bands.
My favorite band of all time.
December 13th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Been a Kinks fan since the mid 60’s and still listen to their music on a daily basis…
December 13th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
it will be great to see Ray and Dave–and the rest of the gang back together again.
December 13th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
They rock me to the bone
December 13th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I’m now an ageing Johnny Thunder, and when I first heard The Kinks, the sound really got me and I listened all day and all of night till the end of the day on asunny afternoon sitting by the riverside, watching a Waterloo Sunset with Victoria and Walter, then I went down a Dead End St where I met a Plastic Man who said he was Tired of waiting and could I Set me free. Of course being a Wonderboy I duly obliged and then Lola appeared Out of the wardrobe in a State of confusion, someone said he or she was a Sleepwalker from Berkely Mews in London. Where have all the good times gone? To Lavender Hill I think, Ring the bells Rosemary Rose Nine to five to Stop your sobbing then Everybody’s gonna be happy. Now I’m Sitting on my sofa in My million pound semi-detatched with Too much on my mind as a Twentieth century man and This time tomorrow When I turn off the living room light and Sit in the midday sun hoping the postman will deliver this CD. (Only a dream)
December 13th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Oh hell yeah!
December 14th, 2008 at 12:41 am
I would be chuffed to win a contest like this seeing as how they are only the best band ever!
December 14th, 2008 at 1:25 am
I just saw Ray Davies perform in NYC on December 12th. He performed the three best songs off of Working Man’s Cafe together with a wide and generous selection of Kinks tunes. The first half of the show was basically acoustic — Ray and another guitarist — and then the second half was with a full band. The Kink songs hold up so well — he could have played a different set of 20 with no noticeable drop off in quality. And he still is in good voice. This box set will be a great reminder of how amazing the Kinks were — and may some day be again.
December 14th, 2008 at 5:14 am
you will give me this box set
Will be nice to have this in one box set as opposed to the 2-3 boxes that exist in Japan.
December 14th, 2008 at 8:21 am
Will I win if I say little?
December 14th, 2008 at 8:39 am
God Save The Kinks

The Kinks are always a favorite. Thanks for the music, boys
December 14th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
possibly-no definitely the most under-rated band. ever.
December 14th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
More than forty years spent with the Kinks’s music: thank you for all those days. Very pleased to hear that they are more and more awarded as they had to be since ever … the best and the most likeable band!
December 14th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Ray was fabulous on his just concluded tour and equally great on the previous tour at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. Let’s hope for a Kinks tour in 2009.
I know that better things are on the way.
December 14th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
My favorite group of all time. (even though Steve Winwood is almost at a tie)
December 14th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
Father Christmas give us this boxset - we’ve got no time for your silly toys!
December 14th, 2008 at 4:17 pm
All life we work but work is a bore, if life’s for living what’s living for. The man is a genius - God save The Kinks!
December 15th, 2008 at 2:17 am
My dad introduced me to the Kinks as early as i can remember. I would love to give this set to him as a gift and thank you for planting the seed of music into my life. The Ray shows in NY and NJ were amazing!!
December 15th, 2008 at 4:38 am
I was born in 1985, but I did hear Kinks at their last tour in Denmark. And I have been to sevral concerts with Ray.
They are the greatest band in rock. I would really like to get this box set.

December 15th, 2008 at 10:19 am
I can’t afford to buy a promo copy (or a Rolls or a Bentley) on eBay, but I’m a kompletist when it kums to my Kinks kollection!
December 15th, 2008 at 11:08 am
PLEASE AND THANK YOU I WOULD LOVE A BOXSET!!!!
December 15th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Ray Davies is a master craftsman when it comes to story telling. Almost every song is very special. The Kinks evolved from a solid rock band to social commentarists over several years, reinventing the concept of a pop song many times along the way. Dave Davies has his own special sound which only he can extract from a guitar. The Kinks have been part of my life since ‘You Really Got Me’ transformed my teenage years and I would really appreciate a copy of this box set
December 15th, 2008 at 11:43 am
When cds were first invented, my better half tossed out my album collection - including (shudders) my Kinks albums! But that’s okay - as long as she just loves me ’til the sun shines.
December 15th, 2008 at 11:46 am
return of the virgin soldiers kinks rock
December 15th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
This is a great idea (contest and Box Set - thanks Kinks!), and would make my wife’s Christmas. We’ll get it eventually, winning would make the eventual sooner.
December 15th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
I’m Mr Pleasant
December 15th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
I saw Ray in Burlington a few days ago. He said I deserved the boxset so please, don’t make our man angry and ship that boxset to Canada as soon as you can .

December 15th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
What the heck, I’ll give it a go….
December 15th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
I’ll give it whirl…
December 15th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
The 45 of All Day and All of the Night was the first record I ever owned as a kid, I still have it and it’s still one of my favorite tunes. And it inspired me to learn to play the guitar…
December 15th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Gotta have them Kinks — All Day and All of the Night!
December 15th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
I have been a fan of the Kinks since I first heard The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, and finally got to see Ray in Calgary, AB this year!
December 16th, 2008 at 12:22 am

December 16th, 2008 at 5:15 am
make my christmas special … They are just the best … Fabulous
December 16th, 2008 at 8:24 am
last saw Ray and Dave on stage together in 1993…..mind blowingly wonderful! Have seen Ray alone twice in recent years at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. (England, UK) He is wonderful on his own, too, but always mentions that he misses Dave! I have turned 3 children into Kinks fans, and I am working on my grandson, now. They all want to see Dave as I have regaled them with stories of how amazing he is…..SO COME BACK, DAVE….WE ALL MISS YOU!!
December 16th, 2008 at 10:46 am
This is what I want for Christmas - God save the Kinks!!!
December 16th, 2008 at 11:28 am
I once travelled to Berkely from Oregon to see the Kinks only to find the gig had been cancelled at the last moment. Winning this would help make up for that fiasco.
God Save the Kinks!!!!!
December 16th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
First saw them 1965 Kinks Kontroversy tour, Forest Gate, London and numerous times since including Ray & Dave solos and recently Come Dancing musical. They just Give the people what they want.
God Save The Kinks.
December 16th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Finally The Kinks release what I hope is a comprehensive history of their life as a band. They did not have the machine behind them like the Beatles, Stones or the Who to help propel them to the top. All they had were one of the world’s greatest songwriters and a great band. Maybe this will be heard by some different ears & we will have a Kinks revival. They really deserve tons of respect for being trendsetters their whole lives.
December 16th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
I ordered this for my husband who is a diehard Kinks fan. Cd Universe said that it would be ready by Dec16th. But now I see it’s not going to be out until Feb. That really sucks! I have no idea what to buy my husband for Christmas now.
December 16th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Virgin, you really got me going
You got me so I don’t know what I’m doing
Yeah you really got me
You got me so I want this box set!
December 16th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
For anyone who is not familiar with the Kinks wonderful body of work, the “Picture Book” six CD boxset is a very good place to start. Merry Christmas, Everybody!
December 17th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
I’m a die-hard Kinks fan who host the radio show “Afternoon Tea” featuring an hour of Kinks music on KCPR in San Luis Obispo, California. This would really help my show. I will play it to death if I am randomly chosen.
God Save The Kinks!
December 17th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

My daughter is a Kinks fanatic…..thought I would try to win this for her……it costs more than I usually spend on her….so it would be great if she could get it this Christmas!
Thanks for letting me enter this contest…..
