Virgin Mobile USA today announced that Virgin Mobile FreeFest tickets have been scooped up. But music fans need not worry, because people across the East Coast will have the chance to volunteer through The Re*Generation Free I.P. program in order to receive a VIP ticket to the hottest free festival of the summer. The Virgin Mobile FreeFest will take place August 30th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. Artists include Weezer, Blink 182, and Public Enemy…

They join Sonic Youth, Ben Harper & Relentless7, Our Lady Peace, Mutemath, Spinnerette, Jarvis Cocker, De La Soul and K-OS on the bill…

Virgin Festival, Canada’s hottest summer music festival, announced today that it’s taking over Halifax’s Citadel Hill on Saturday, July 4, 2009 to an expected throng of 15,000 plus music fans! As we reported last week, Grace Jones, Lily Allen, The Ting Tings, Pendulum and Athlete had already been confirmed; we can now tell you that The Enemy, The Mars Volta, Bat For Lashes and Super Furry Animals will also be playing with one act still to be confirmed…

Will Young is among the new additions to this year’s Camp Bestival lineup, while the much-anticipated fancy dress theme has also been unveiled.Festival-goers heading to the Dorset event will be dressing up to the theme of Animal Magic on July 24th, 25th and 26th. This could mean some creature creations or David Blaine-inspired idiocy; we’re not sure, but it sounds fun. Also added are Phoenix, along with hotly-tipped Mumford & Sons, Baddies, Tinchy Stryder, Kid Carpet and many more…

Placebo have announced that they will release their new album, Battle For The Sun, on the June 8th. The new album will be the group’s sixth studio album and the first since the arrival of new drummer Steve Forrest. Lead singer /guitarist Brian Molko has said he’s “in a positive frame of mind and a good head space” about the new album and adding “There’s a lot of life in the old dog just yet” …

V Festival has once again almost completely sold out across both sites only hours after tickets went on sale. Tickets to Hylands Park, Chelmsford sold out in under two hours and only coach packages now remain. The last remaining tickets to Weston Park, Staffordshire are going fast from www.vfestival.com. Tickets went on sale at 10am last Friday…

Oasis and The Killers are set to headline Virgin Media’s V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire on 22 & 23 August. Fatboy Slim, Keane, The Specials, Elbow, Pendulum, The Tings Tings, MGMT and Lady Ga Ga will also be playing at what will be the V Festival’s fourteenth year. The Virgin Mobile Union stage sees lyrical genius Peter Doherty take to the stage and will be joined by a load of other acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday. The otherworldly aura of Kraftwerk will be among the main attractions at this year’s Bestival. They will be joined by Massive Attack as headliners, with the bill-topper for the final night yet to be announced. It will all take place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight on September 11th, 12th and 13th this summer. As well as the big hitters, the cream of the last few years’ breakthrough acts are making the step up to the higher echelons of the bill. Fleet Foxes, Seasick Steve and MGMT are all confirmed, alongside the return of Klaxons and Bat For Lashes. In addition, the usual tomfoolery and festivities of the annual bash will all be present and correct, overseen by organiser Rob Da Bank…
