Download Eleanor Conway Presents: Buraka Som Sistema Podcast

Having won the MTV VMA for best Portuguese act following the release of their second album Black Diamond, Buraka Som Sistema are on the prowl in bringing credible urban world music to the masses. They’ve identified collaborators MIA, Diplo and Switch, Kano and Hot Chip as the metaphorical musical magpies that they are, and they join me on the first Eleanor Conway Presents: Podcast in association with music.virgin.com to share their musical inspirations behind their sound- the sound of Kuduro.

Not content with churning out podcasts, those lovely Aussies have now unleashed a vodcast on us unsuspecting festival go-ers to whip us up in to a bit of a frenzy about the upcoming Australia VFestivals. It’s a bit of a psychadelic trip through the sights and sounds on offer in just over a month’s time. I think someone down under has indulged in some mild mind-altering stimulants and spent a sweaty, furtive night of creative abandon on Photoshop to come up with this spellbinding visual feast. A gift of sound and vision indeed. Download it now I tell you godammit. Whoa - there goes a flying walrus. Anyone up for a wrestle with a naked Power Ranger?

Those canny Aussies have only gone and unleashed another genius mash up of a festival podcast - free to download from Feedburner. Expertly spliced tunes from the diverse lineup lie together like the strange and beguiling bedfellows they are. Such skillful DJ dexterity manages to slip in the Daft Punk-style disco beats of Cut Copy against The Jesus And Mary Chain’s Just Like Honey, while The Rakes‘ We Danced Together brashly smooches up to CSS and the Smashing Pumpkins remixes. Any free-to-download offering that contains the immortal Queens Of The Stone Age chant ‘nicotine, valium, vicodan, marijuana, ecstacy and alcohol, c-c-c-c-cocaine’ - altogether now… gets my click. Go on - get it now. And then see if you can name all the tracks smart arses - coz I’ll be buffalo’d if I can.
