Friday highlights at Glastonbury - after the rain, came the sun and then came the music. N*E*R*D’s Pharrell Williams, Little Boots, Hot Chip, Gabriella Cilmi and Lily Allen all paid their tribute to Michael Jackson. The Specials offered their take on the Glastonbury lineup and revealed no love loss for Lady GaGa - Terry Hall called her ‘gross’ and ‘obnoxious’. Lady GaGa herself seemed to prefer to chat her way through her set rather than sing, Jack White’s The Dead Weather played a surprise set and headliner Neil Young proved there’s life in the dog yet…

Inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center perform their tribute to Michael Jackson. These 1,500 Filipino inmates, whose original recreation of the Thriller dance routine has earned them over 24 million views on YouTube so far, spent nine hours solid practicing this routine upon hearing of Michael Jackson’s death on Thursday night.

I found out about Wave Machines about 6 months ago when they released Keep The Lights On… I guess you can say my ears fell in love with them. The debut album, Wave If You’re Really There, is ready for release this month and after a buzz from their SXSW appearance, they’ve got loads of gigs lined up throughout the summer including the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury, Lovebox, Electric Picnic and Bestival, as well as forthcoming appearances at Liverpool Sound City and Dot To Dot festival. Creativity at its best and sub-disco lyrics is what set this band apart.

I was recently quite chuffed to be able to sit down and have a nice little chat with Victoria Hesketh, better known as Little Boots. Despite being an emerging artist, I was nonetheless stupidly star struck by the synth geek from Blackpool. So after messing with her head by banging on about the almost ridiculous amount of hype and accolades she’s been getting from all and sundry (she got name-checked in our interviews with electro pop heroes Pet Shop Boys and Saint Etienne), I eventually calmed down and let the very laid back Little Boots tell us all a bit about her debut album Hands, why she thinks LA is just like her native Blackpool, how much she wants to work with Brandon Flowers of The Killers, and about her new project (maybe): Coronation Street In Space - The Musical (exclusive!)… watch on…

After supporting Keane and the Pet Shop Boys on tour, he is apparently going to be co-producing Cheryl Cole’s solo album while she’s ‘on a break’ from Girls Aloud. This is what happens in economically-challenged times. We pull in our belts, cut back and multi-task like mad multi-limbed, multi-headed mad things doing the jobs of twelvty people in an effort to keep you, our beloved blog viewers, happy and in teh lifestyle to which you are accustomed. Hence, when called upon to interview the many-membered Dananananaykroyd for your very pleasure - I rock up on me tod without a crew in sight, not even a camera holder (or, er… tripod maybe?). Luckily those plucky, enterprising Dananana types are skilled multi-taskers already (how many other bands are each of them in?!) so I manage to convince one of them to do the honours behind the camera… Then of course it’s up to little old solitary me to edit this film together myself as well, hence it’s about 300 years past their album (Hey Everyone!) and single (Black Wax) release dates, so… okay - yeah, uh great pre-launch PR there then. How slick am I? Not at all. Oh enough of the excuses - just watch the video. I think I did quite well considering…
